01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A clear broth infused with whole-chicken flavor, samgyetang delivers a mild, restorative depth. Sourced in the traditional style, it arrives with salt on the side so diners can season the soup to taste while pulling tender meat from the bone. Tucked away on a side street in Ikebukuro 2-chome, Jikiya serves this and other comforting Korean staples in an unpretentious setting.

Bubbling Soups and Rice Bowls

Those in the mood for hot soup dishes can turn to ox-tail gomtang, loaded with tender tail meat on the bone, or bubbling sundubu stew made with soft tofu, clams, and egg. The sundubu delivers a spicy kick alongside its savory backbone; in season, an oyster sundubu variation adds deeper brine. Rice dishes are equally plentiful, ranging from crisp dolsot bibimbap browned in hot stone bowls to combination sets that pair bibimbap with a small bowl of sundubu.

From Daytime Sets to Evening Bites

Meals frequently come with small side dishes like kimchi, seasoned namul, and salad, giving the table a homestyle spread. Crisp seafood or garlic-chive pajeon pancakes, as well as samgyeopsal grilled pork belly, can be ordered in snackable portions—rounding out a satisfying lunch or accompanying evening drinks.

Illuminated by lanterns, the compact dining room provides a relaxed atmosphere for solo diners and small groups alike. With continuous hours from 11:00 through late into the night, Jikiya serves as a dependable choice for everything from hearty daytime sets to a late-night bowl of warm broth after work.
